Helllooooo Sunshine!

Welcome back old friend. The sun came out and made everything right again. It was a comfortable 74 degrees up top yesterday with a full day of sun. How we needed that! The mountain side is a carpet of yellow and the butterflies and humming birds are out making the most of it. It is a great time to be on the mountain.

Looking for some info....I am thinking about hiking up the AT to Shuckstack Tower from Fontana Dam. Does anyone know about the parking situation at the Dam? Is it close to the AT? etc.

Today was our 16th day in a row with temps over 90. Killer humidity most of those days. Wish I could be back up on the mountain enjoying the cooler temps and the great hospitality of the crew.

Tony IN; Used to be there was a secure parking lot at Fontana Dam monitoried by workers there; might still be applicable; I always left my vehicle there and was ferried up to Davenport Gap where I then hiked the 68 mi on the A.T. back to Fontana; A.T. crosses the dam; Allyson and crew: You should organize and compile an album of your great photos of the flora around the lodge; They're a daily enjoyment. While you wish for sun up there, a lot of us down below hope for rain, and I believe some of the region recieved some today; Some of my most relaxing times at the lodge were during rains; Well, any time I'm at the lodge is a great time ! G'day.

Tony, the road over the dam was closed last Thursday for repairs, but was reopened by Saturday. There is plenty of parking at the AT/Lakeshore trailheads north of the dam.

We love being at Mt. LeConte. I came with my sister Brenda from PA, my brother Steve from New York, our buddy Bob from New York and me from Maryville TN.
We laugh so hard we cried. It is simply a beautiful place to be and love on each other, nature and God.
