It definitely feels like fall on the mountain. It is currently 40 degrees. The high yesterday was only 60. The skies are clearing up and we are getting those beautiful views that fall brings to the upper elevations. It was a such a pretty day that John decided to run out Boulevard to Newfound Gap and did it in 57 minutes. As far as I know, that is a record for running out the Boulevard. Way to go John.

I seem to get to this site every morning during the time that breakfast is being served at the lodge. Could be why I imagined I heard the breakfast bell being rung a couple of times ! More likely just wishful thinking on my part ! Lovely photo of the moon; being on the mountain with it out is a special treat. Have a great day.

It seems like it wasn't that long ago that you guys were breaking new heat records! Seems like an early summer this year is leading to an early fall for you guys! Perhaps JP will get the winter he was (and we were) looking for this year!

Our current temp of 70° with 70% humidity is nowhere close to your high! We count ourselves lucky to drop to 40° come winter. No doubt that's why the mosquitoes are big as volkswagons here in the deep South! Love the site. We visit Bryson City over the mountain via 441 quite often and hike the Suncota Ridge area. Wish we were there now!

57 minutes...wow. I have hiked that trail 3 times and am not about to tell how long it took me. 57 minutes....I can't grasp that! Great accomplishment to John and Worried Mom.
