Cookie Bowling, Jack Huff's daughter, brings her family and her brother Phillip's family every year. Her father started LeConte Lodge in 1926 and had a large part in making LeConte Lodge what it is today. Cookie had the honor of growing up on Mt. LeConte. It is always fun to hear stories of her youth when she visits.

Correction - my father Jack Huff did not buy LeConte Lodge from Paul Adams. He was there before the park was formed. Pauls cabin/tent was not on sight. Dad chose the sight where the lodge is today. This is how he explained it to me

Cookie, thank you for the correction. That is a great piece of history to know. I knew Paul Adams had set up a camp closer to Cliff Tops, but I thought he had chosen the spot for the lodge. So now we know it is your father who was responsible for the location. Thank you again for the stories you share each time you come up here. It is great to hear the memories from someone who grew up here. We love seeing you all each year. Comments are closed.
