I would always have a man to be doing, and, as much as in him lies, to extend and spin out the offices of life; and then let death take me planting my cabbages, indifferent to him, and still less of my gardens not being finished. Michel de Montaigne
Morning,

We had another bizarrely warm day yesterday. The high crept up to 52. The overnight low was 23. It was 33 and raining at observation. Be very wary of hiking today. The rain is supposed to last all day and the still frozen ground is a recipe for black ice.

I hiked down Alum yesterday with a few friends. We finished atop High Point and it felt great getting out in such accommodating December weather. I spent the remainder of the day relaxing and taking care of a few chores in anticipation of the nasty weather today. Thanks to everyone who hiked me up oranges, apples, and chocolate turtles!

I agree with you all about the garbage, it is just disgusting. I too pick up the trash of others, and I have chosen to volunteer with the Adopt a Trail program with the NPS. If anyone is interested in volunteering with the park, contact [email protected]. And last but not least, BEAUTIFUL photos JP, keep em coming:)

Looks like you had an interesting outing. Would like to hear more about it sometime. Love the photo on the rock.

Wow, all kinds of places to hike when I come down. Where about is High Top from the lodge? Not sure if I want to do that one. Can you show some views from the top? Of course I could probably look it up too. The weather has been way to nice. Climbing in tshirts. Now, thats my kind of winter!!! Enjoy!

I'm curious too. I know where Cliff Tops and Myrtle Point are, and I can identify West Point and Balsam Point (though I haven't been to those). I always thought that High Top was where the big pile of rocks were....where is that cliff that you guys are scaling? =)

It is amazing seeing all the photos and all you see if brush, grass, etc. No ice, snow, etc. If you look at last years photo's that Alex took, there had to be a couple of feet of snow on the ground at this time last year. It is amazing. I am in Wisconsin and we don't have any snow on the ground either.
