I See Blue Skies

7/10/2013

Picture
We ended up with a nice day for most of the day. The high reached 69º with a low of 57º. The rain moved in later in the day and hit us hard. We received another 1.37" of rain in few hours time. The blue skies are playing peek-a-boo with us at the moment. I know they are out there and I can tell it is going to shape up to be another sunny day up top.

I like to call this picture, "Fun with filters".

Does the phrase "most unusual weather" ring a bell?
Y'all have a good 'un...

One big dump of rain is nice. But dread a all day rain. When we were there that week, it seemed to dump buckets all at once and then be done. But when we would look up your way, you always seemed to be under a big cloud. Sending sunshine your way!!

Good day all, I have had to refrain from posting as much because I have an addiction (though not as bad as Debi) to this place. I tend to either be 120% or not at all, I have no moderation. LOL anyway, glad all the crew are getting a little bit of sunshine now. Thinking of doing a N-S AT halfway thru the park and wind it up at Mt Leconte sometime in october. any sugeestions or advice would be greatly apprecitated.HAPPY TRAILS

Start at I-40 and end at LeConte? If you are dropped proximal to I-40 you can start late in the day and spend the night at Davenport Gap. The next day is a long hike to Cosby Knob, especially if you take the side out and back to the Mount Cammerer Fire Tower. We should have had 10L of water each. Ridiculously heavy. Fortunately we found a small flow across the path about a mile short of Cosby Knob and pumped. We did not realize how badly dehydrated we were until we were rehydrated.
Icewater Spring is a great shelter, the views are great at both sunrise and sunset, but due to the proximity to Newfound Gap, expect ridiculously unprepared/unseasoned hikers.
It's a great hike.

We had a great time up on the mountain Monday and Tuesday night, in both the shelter and at the lodge. Thank you so much to all the staff who work so hard to make the guests comfortable and well-fed. It was especially thrilling to see sweet Chrissy's smiling face leading the llamas up the trail--and we were such slow hikers we got to see them again as they came down. Thank you again to everybody and I hope you all have a great season.

We have stayed there twice.. We played a game last time from your game shelves and can't remember the name. It was a trivia question game... Would someone take a minute and see what the name might be of any of your trivia games so we can try to find it to purchase? We are planning another hike this fall but I can't wait til then to look....
If you have time email or call
Thanks bunches...
Donna
