Men are a thousand times more intent on becoming rich than on acquiring culture, though it is quite certain that what a man is contributes more to his happiness than what he has. Schopenhauer
Morning,

It felt like a May day on LeConte. The high was 51. The low was 40. It was 41 and on the verge of a gray, blustery storm this morning at observation. Be prepared for some wet trails!

Nice pic of sky and trees, JP! Love that deep blue sky that only elevation and thinner air can give, almost Maxfield Parrish-like! Yep, it's a weird winter, alright; last January, I was on the AT between Charlie's Bunion and Peck's Corner (Sawteeth), and it really was waist- to chest-deep in places, it took us all morning to get that far (thank God for snowshoes), finally had to do a 180 and call it a day, but that flawlessly blue sky with blindingly white snow everywhere... nothing better! Enjoy your day!

I love how clear the air is in the Smokys in the winter. You really can tell a difference in the air quality in your pictures.

I don't know if man gets rich or just trying to gain some sort of weatlh. Gets caught up in every day life and family and payments and sometimes they have a very hard time trying to capture some culture inbetween all of the hupla of trying to have money to enjoy all of it.

As is the norm... beautiful pix. Looking at the damage caused by the bugs, to the hemlocks...breaks my heart.. especially knowing they were introduced by our government.
