"I was after neither time or money, but life - not life in the pathetic meaning of the poor health-seeker, for I was perfectly well and a trained athlete; but life in the truer, broader, sweeter sense, the exhilarant joy of living outside the sorry fences of society, living with a perfect body and a wakened mind... I am an American and felt ashamed to know so little of my country as I did, and as most Americans do." Charles F. Lummis
Morning,
We had yet another mild, rainy day. The high was 42. The low was 30. It was 31 and hazy at observation. For a bit yesterday afternoon, there was some sleet coming down. There was 1.10" of rain yesterday. Be prepared for some wet trails! I sat in my rocking chair with a cup of coffee and watched the morning develop. According to the weather forecasters, we were due our first taste of clear skies in 3 & 1/2 days. I was due for a show. The early tones of day resembled yesterday - macabre visions of grey slowly giving way to what must be considered morning by default. At 7:48, there was a parting of the clouds and blue skies rang true. They seemed bluer than I remembered.

Here's to hoping you get your snow. It looks like you may see 3-4 inches over the next few days. I was heading up from GA to hike Friday, but the minus wind chills aren't looking to appealing. Maybe I'll see you Sunday.

I can't believe how dramatic of a difference there is between this winter and last winter on the mountain. It was this blog last year that got my fiance and I to want to start traveling up there during those winter months to experience LeConte as we hadn't previously done so. I'm sorry JP that you've had "spring" weather thus far! Even down here in Tampa we have had a very warm winter with quite a few days reaching the 80s whereas last year we rarely got into the mid 70s!

I agree the pics are great... but sometimes wonder what exactly is the picture of... or where? It would be a great help to us all. Keep up the good work!

The cardinals were flocking in large numbers to my mom's backyard feeders near the old cedar trees. On the weather map this morning it looked like a system moving west was going to meet another system moving east. I guess the cardinals are confirming the forecast.

Man, the sun and blue that's been waxing and waning has seemed bluer and brighter than I remembered as well. Hopefully you're bundled up and riding what I'm guessing is a helluva snow/ice storm. Comments are closed.
