We were braced for a busy Saturday which never got that busy. I guess a lot of kids are starting back to school sooner than I thought. The day started out with some rain, but shaped up to be a nice day. The high was 62º with a low of 48º. We were treated to some thunderstorms, out in the distance, last night. It made for a fabulous sunset. I will miss being able to look out my kitchen door and seeing some of the best sunsets in the southeast.
“We can never have enough of nature. We must be refreshed by the sight of inexhaustible vigor, vast and titanic features, the sea-coast with its wrecks, the wilderness with its living and its decaying trees, the thunder-cloud and the rain.”- Henry David Thoreau

I have a trivial question. When did the Lodge install the date sign above the dining hall entrance? I noticed on the Twitter site the image was taken before that tradition began. Just curious.

I think the reason you were not busy is because the traffic was HORRID yesterday coming into town. It took me 49 minutes to go 6 lights on the parkway....I had planned to hike but changed my mind. I am thinking others did too. We are at maximum capacity here in the valley...so enjoy every minute of the peace up there! smile. Cant wait to get back. I still need to figure out which way our Oct party plans to come up (by hiking a few more times) we have a lot of beginners with us.

Tennessee Tax-free Weekend probably kept lots of folks in the stores and off the trails.
