Grey skies are bringing promises of rain and warmer temperatures. That is a recipe for snow melting. It reached 50 degrees yesterday. The crew put their swim suites on and caught some rays. Our vitamin D levels are fully restored. The low last night was 31. With the high temperature and lots of sun, we are now down to 12" of snow. You can see patches of dirt now, spring is here.
Alum Cave trail has seen quite a bit of foot traffic. There is still spots of ice and snow on the trail, but it is improving everyday.

I'm looking forward to hiking on bare ground again,I had my fill of hiking in the snow on a Febuary hike on alum cave trail.(for someone who has not hiked in 2ft+ deep snow before I found that you put in twice the physical strain and effort with half the foward momentum)very exhausting.

I love the new blog. I look at it daily and love seeing the pictures and information. I am hoping to day hike up sometime this summer (and get my tshirt) I hope you get enough rain to melt all of the snow away.

This is wonderful news. We are taking our kids on their first trip to Mt.LeConte next week and have been a little worried about the amount of snow. It looks so beautiful in the pictures, but boy I hope it melts by next week. See you then! Comments are closed.
