Good Morning,

It’s currently clear with a beautiful inversion. Mountain LeConte is experiencing high winds and a temperature of 17 degrees.
It should be another gorgeous day, but I would recommend warm layers if you plan on making it up to the higher elevations.

Cliff Top Surfers

The crowd congregates at the Cliff Tops. High winds hold them is place as each brandishes their obsidian feathered wings. Drifting into another’s lane, a territorial dispute unfolds. Heavy gawking and sharp nipping at tail feathers, pride was being tested. Death defying acrobatics soon filled the stage. What is the reward for victory, I wondered. Dozens more take advantage of the good surf, each content with in their own enterprise. The duel subsides like a receding wave. Territorial terms were either delayed or merely forgotten with the coming of fresh currents. A large crow emerges overhead. Flanking the port side, honor is being tested yet again.

...another wave breaks.

Onward,
Seth

Great photo Seth! Question: Do all those peaks in the photo have names? Stay warm!

I always enjoy reading your blog Seth. Quick question for you, I plan to visit the park next weekend. With the shut down ongoing, I am not sure if the park website is reflecting closings. Are all the parking lots open for trail heads as usual or are some closed? Thanks!

Seth, no business of mine; ? were you off the mountain for, a run or race or walk or the likes? Any way, glad your back! I get so much "wall paper" from your photos. Norman (ga)
