Good morning folks,
It’s another fine start to the day on LeConte. Birds flock to the firs for safety. Hovering high above, they enjoy the views over camp. Our high temperature yesterday reached 38 degrees. The overnight low only dropped down to 23 degrees. It’s currently 23 degrees with calm wind. No precipitation was recorded. The snow depth is still holding strong at 3”. Ice is the main issue on trail. Crampons (micro-spikes) are must to safely make to the top. It’s an ice skating rink folks. Cloud cover returns today with chances of a light accumulation of snow. Saturday night into Sunday looks to have another round of snow move into the mountains. All roads are open as of now. With the holiday weekend here I would imagine trails will be busier than the last couple weeks. There is still plenty of a winter wonderland up top folks. Anyways , have a great day! Calm winds make the morning silent in camp. Oil lamps hum with the burning flame. I sit and enjoy the first cup of coffee. Daylight is fast approaching. Soon the sky will give way to some of the most beautiful colors one could ever witness. I sit and sip and enjoy! SEE YOU AT THE TOP! PNUT
