Its another great start to the morning on Leconte. The high yesterday reached 26 degrees. The overnight low dipped down to 16 degrees. It’s currently 22 degrees with calm winds. No precipitation was recorded. Snow is still 3” and more around the mountain. Crampons are a must! Clouds roll into the area today bringing much colder temperatures. The snow is welcomed. We are under a Winter Storm Warning starting at 7pm-7am Monday. The highest peaks of the Smoky mountains could see upwards of 8” or more by Monday morning. Who’s ready? I patiently wait….
The clouds moved in and out of camp yesterday. Periods of blue skies. Grey and white clouds raced from the valley below. All before sunset, it cleared and revealed a soft painting in the sky. Clingmans dome looked ancient rising steeply into the sky. Another fantastic night on the mountain. SEE YOU AT THE TOP!
