Another snow day!

Picture
Good morning folks,

Brrrrr!! It’s a bitter cold, snowy morning on the mountain. Calm winds with heavy snowflakes falling again. The high yesterday reached 28 degrees. The overnight low dropped down to 5 degrees. It is currently 5 degrees. We received 1.04 of precipitation. We received 12” of fresh snow bringing our snow depth to 17” with much deeper spots that are knee deep around camp. Winds carve their own paths through camp making drifts much deeper. All roads are closed. Looks to be another snowy day up top. Have a great day!

The crisp air paired with the shining crystals on the fresh layer of snow. Silent… the mountain is still, but alive. Firs are weighted down heavy. It’s a shoveling kind of day up top. Just did one round of shoveling and it’s beginning to get covered quickly. Mother Nature always wins! Anyways, the tunes and coffee are hot. Thinking I’ll do some baking today. It’s going to be a great day spent on LeConte. SEE YOU AT THE TOP!

Your description of the solitude and tranquility of the mountain top brings a peace to my wellbeing. Love it!

That is some snow up top. It is amazing how much elevation makes in the air temp and the amount of snow as compared to the valley of Gatlinburg below. One can see the top of Mt Leconte from the valley, but the eyes deceive the distance and the result there of, between the two

Looks amazing. Wish the road was open so we could hike up. Hopefully the road will clear up and a couple of us will hike up next weekend. Stay warm. As you can in those conditions

Thanks so much for the pictures. Just curious, why do you have to shovel?

Glad to see your post; wondered how much snow you were blessed with! Monday is baking day here too...but I think I'm just going for sourdough pancakes today! Did 8 loaves of Harvest Grain Sourdough Friday/Saturday to get ready for the snow! And it's snowing again, hard, here in Woodfin. Stay warm!

I appreciate this amazing blog and it’s perseverance! I was wondering if you guys get people that camp up there this time of year?

Cheers!
