I have never learned how. And never will learn how. What I have learned is to get outside the world. To need less. To reduce my wants. To be satisfied with essentials. I have learned that possessions get in my way. That money and what it can buy are distractions. I have learned that simplicity starts when income exceeds outgo. George Sheehan

Morning y'all,
It's a beautiful, chilly morning up top. The high yesterday reached 46 degrees. The overnight low was 32 degrees. It was 33 degrees and clear at 7am observation. The mountain received .47" of rain yesterday, most of it coming late last evening. The trails are sure to be a bit soggy, but get out and enjoy the views!

I had another great day of relaxation hanging around the cabin yesterday. Reading, daydreaming, foam rolling. The rain came and went. It was another timeless day up top.

Paul,

Foam rolling is a technique used to loosen your muscles up. It is a self massage and it helps you recover faster from long days.

I keep reading your posts and really enjoy them. We had reservations but my husband had to change his dates. I put in for if there is a cancellation. I was so looking forward to coming up for the first time. Hope somebody cancels in April, so we can come up a week before our original reservations. Keep filling us in about up top.

Newfound Gap to Davenport Gap is approximately 31 miles; so the round trip is 62 miles; that's a good distance !

Roger,

I went one way from Newfound to Davenport - Grace picked me up at the end! I'm not quite ready for a 62 mile out and back....

Enjoyed meeting Grace on Wednesday as she was coming down Alum. Karen & Ed checked out the Alum Cave trail work; had trail all to ourselves. No one on Boulevard either. Think JP passed us headed to NFG in a blur. Thanks so much for taking good care of LeConte Lodge during the winter. A special place!

Will,

I am re-re-re-reading Running & Being. I am typically getting out between 40-60 miles per week when the trails are this clear!
