Good morning, It’s currently 39 degrees and clear. Yesterday’s high was 36 degrees with an overnight low of 26. US Hwy 441 is currently open. -- I walked to sunset, unsure of the outcome. Mist still hovered around camp - the sky above seemed ominous and dark. I wandered up the mountain anyway. My eyes couldn’t believe what began to unfold. The mist thinned and the sun sneaked down from the heavens. Deep purples mixed with plum reds created an awe-inspiring moment atop Mt. Le Conte. Darkness finally reminded me of dinner. I slowly wandered back to camp, lost in thought. I woke for sunrise. The mountain was much warmer than the day prior. Excited to leave some layers at home, I made for Myrtle Point. The forest dripped around me as I walked. The calm morning mist left everything saturated. I thought about the sun and how it’s rays would soon transform the landscape. I continued to hike… I continued to think. Onward, Seth To keep every cog and wheel is the first precaution of intelligent tinkering. – Aldo Leopold

The pictures you post are breath taking. I have spent a lot of time in the Smokies through out my life. My grandparents took me there as a child and introduced me to all the beauty of the mountains many years ago. They are no longer with me, however, the memories remain so clear to me. Your pictures have brought back many memories.
