Good morning, It’s currently 36 degrees and windy. Yesterday’s high was 43 degrees, with an overnight low of 34 degrees. -- The wind howled… I left my loft in a whirl of thought and memory. Life up top was giving me a much-needed period of reflection. I walked around the lodge property, periodically coming back to the present to observe my current place in the world. It was a Monday. All my belongings fit into a backpack, and I was happy as a pig-in-mud tromping around the heart of a National Park. My definition of happiness had transformed, again. The clouds rolled in, deepening my thought and reflection… Mt. Le Conte danced in the wind. Onward, Seth “The hardest thing in the world is to simplify your life. It’s so easy to make it complex. What’s important is leading an examined life.” – Yvon Chouinard

Love your pictures, descriptions of your journeys up top and the quotes you use with the pictures. How far is Myrtle Point from the cabins? Are you there until Spring or will you stay into the Summer?

Thanks for your post Seth. Your comment "..all my belongings fit into a backpack,," struck me. How consistent and admirable that comment is with respect to Yvon Chouinard's quote is beautiful. My own belongings won't fit into an 18-wheel truck, and my life is way too complicated. Keep on posting!

I also only had backpack possessions as a crew member from 1981-1983. It gives a type of freedom. Starting pay was $15 a day, before taxes, plus about $7 a day in tips. Always had enough. In 1987 I became a mail carrier and walked enough in the first ten years to circle the earth on walking routes. After retiring, I find that I own way too many possessions.
