Good morning! With a high of 70 degrees and an overnight low of 54, we welcomed .43 inches of rain as well as more than the usual amount of day hikers and guests alike. Today we are expecting rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the day and should reach temps in the upper 60s! Continue to bring rain gear and PLENTY of water! One of our overnight guests brought up a Pillsbury Dough Boy in honor of Denny James. Poppin’ Fresh has been on many a hiking trip (two to LeConte); Denny used to take it around with him while training to hike the AT until he got sick and couldn’t anymore. He has passed since but his family continues to take him on hiking trips in remembrance of this loved man. Today his family will be making the trip down Boulevard to add three miles to Poppin’ Fresh’s total AT milage for a total of 27 miles. We are happy to share Denny’s (and Poppin’ Fresh’s) story and let their memory live on. -Adventure is out there.

blessed be his memorie. I have walked them all, 900 club member. I am 76 years young. It always saddens me to loose a fellow dedicated hiker. I hope to meet him on a trail far beyond the stars, carrying dough boy.
