If you have ever experienced a bird flying out of the side of the trail as you hike by, you may have passed a Junco nest. They lay their eggs in little nests that are buried in the side of a hill. Unfortunately, the egg survival rate is about 25%. Predators find these nests and use them as a food source. We love watching the nests and hoping one day we will pass by and there will be baby Juncos in it.
