Observing a wall of clouds this morning on top of Ole Smoky. Conditions will start out calm, and like a typical summer day in these parts, pop-up rain showers and thunderstorms will make themselves known by the afternoon. In the meantime, winds remain light and temps will alternate between mid 50s and mid 60s. Looking ahead, Friday appears to be a soaker from start to finish, with strong precip chances lingering into Saturday. By Sunday, the forecast looks more favorable for outdoor rambles. Plan accordingly with the rain gear. We gladly sell ponchos up top, but that doesn’t serve one well for their ascent. It continues to get quite busy here in East TN, as the last school districts around the country are wrapping up their years and letting out for summer. With so much to see and do in these mountains, the Smokies and Mt. LeConte continue to be popular vacation destinations.
