A snail friend.
Hello all! We are having a beautiful start to the week on the mountain! Yesterday's high was 70 and the low was 49 with .2" of rain. Today it is already 70 degrees and humid with sunshine and clouds overhead. It is going to be a very hot week, so if you are hiking remember to pack extra water, take extra breaks, and stay cool and hydrated as you journey up to visit our beautiful mountain!

.# (pound sign) not to get off subject, but went to Gregory bald yesterday. was well worth it, hadn't been in 12 years, looked like to hill was on fire. just a couple days past prime so if youre looking for someplace different and got 15 mile (I did the loop using the road) to kill, try it out this week. you can cut it to 8 miles by driving up the road which is a little rough. saw everything from monster jeeps to civics -but I woudnt recommend the civic...

Hello, I wanted to offer a huge thank you to the two people who helped me when I fell on the ice back on March 12 and broke my forearm. I made it back to Wisconsin and had the surgery and have fully recovered the use and strength of my right arm. If it hadn't been for your amazing help, I am not sure if I would have made it down the mountain. You splinted my arm and assured me that it would be okay!! I ended up breaking both bones and had to have a plate and 8 screws!! I was only a half mile from the summit so I want to come back and make it to the top! Thank you again for all of your help. It was much appreciated. You folks down south are awesome.

Carolyn-I don't know if you will check back on your post but if you do, would you mind sharing what happened on your hike to cause you to fall? I find that often I can learn something from someone else to be safer on my hikes, in the winter time especially. I fell a couple of times several years ago on the ice before I figured I needed Kahtoola microspikes and two trekking poles to be the safest. I will not go out without both of them now whenever there might be ice on the upper section of Mt LeConte. I have seen ice up there late into April. I am so sorry that your were hurt up there, but glad others were able to help you. Glad you have fully recovered.
Hope you get to come back.

Can we refill our water supply before our return hike?

Yes. There is a place up at the lodge to refill your water bottles. Good mountain water.
