Hello, hello. Writing from a bit of a grey day on the mountain top today. We are securely wrapped in a thick blanket of clouds and the wind is humming quietly through camp. It's warm though, despite the fog, already almost 60 degrees. Yesterday's high was 70 and the low was 51 and although around lunchtime the whole mountain shook with thunder, only .02" of rain actually fell.
It is HOT and humid down below this week and as I mentioned yesterday, pack lots of extra water and be sure to drink as you hike, even if you don't necessarily feel thirsty. Preventing dehydration is leaps and bounds easier than treating it! The most helpful piece of hiking (and any other kind of activity!) advice I have been given in a long time: Drink before you are thirsty, eat before you are hungry and rest before you are tired. This will keep you hiking at your best! What an inviting table.LOL Is it a special occasion or do you do that for each meal?It is amazing to see what all you have on LeConte.A beautiful clean stove and kitchen and the other day the front door on the cabin just set it off.Is it new?Excuse all mistakes as my print is ssssssssssssmall I can't tell if I am making mistakes or not.Don'[t know what caused it or how to repair it.I am a dummy with a comp.Have a good d ay and it is hot and humid in Ms.Te4mp high 90's and index 101-105

Also folks, remember to drink plenty of water the day before you hike and salt too if your diet allows it! Often dehydration depends on how much fluid we take in the day before we exert ourselves.

Please pass the beef and gravy and the mashed potatoes. Oh, my wine glass is empty! How about a refill? Love dinner time at the lodge; good food and great company to eat with.
