Good morning fellow LeConte lovers. Chris and I made our final ascent, as LeConte employees, yesterday. It was a gorgeous day for a hike up. The trail is in great shape. There are only a few spots at the top that are a little slick. Just take your time and you won't need to worry about any type of ice traction. We are expecting another beautiful day at the top, today. The high yesterday was 47º with a low of 28º.

Only seventeen days left of the season. Chris and I took our time on our way up yesterday. We reminisced about all of our hikes up the mountain. Chris said we had to wait for the descent stories on our final descent. I decided that my least favorite hike up the mountain was in 2010. The first hike of the season and I had about 50 lbs on my back. The crew hiked up in about 2 feet of snow. I remember being so worn out by the time I got to the top, I stepped in a snow drift up to my waist and Chris had to rescue me. I didn't have the energy to crawl out. I told Tim the next time it snowed like that, at the beginning of the season, I was not hiking up until it all melted. Luckily, we didn't have to test that threat. My favorite hike up was when I made it up in my personal record time. I made it up in 1:54. I was pleased with myself. Of course, my loving husband had to hike behind me to tell friends we encountered why I didn't stop and talk to them. Chris's personal record is 1:24. I guess I have some training to do to catch up to his. I do plan on attempting it again, when I come back to visit.

We are gearing up for a busy day on the top. I am sure there will be a lot of day hikers out and about. It is a great day for a hike. Come see us and get some of our famous hot cocoa.

We are so excited, we are hiking up next Thursday for our first time and I hope these knees are forgiving! We plan an early start. My husband was curious how y'all know you have a rescue out on the trail. I understand during the day when there are plenty of hikers about but what about those night rescues, how did y'all know to go out?

We are hoping for a beautiful and uneventful hike, I've waited 10 years to be able to do this and couldn't be more excited. We'll see y'all on Thursday!

Are the llamas still coming up and down Trillium? I was hoping to take that trail but maybe next year!

Love the picture and the story. Reading again of your last days as managers makes me feel sad. I just started reading this blog about 2 years ago and of course the two of you have been the "ramrods" for all my tuning in, Hope you have a great time on your new adventure and look forward to reading your comments on this blog as readers rather than authors. You will be commenting won't you?

Allyson and Chris have a happy last 17 days and success to you with your sauce business.

Nathan, I wish you God Speed on your new endeavors. You have a God Given gift in being able to tell the truly interesting stories of all your adventures and of the happenings on Mt. LeConte. May you consider writing a book or possible more of your experiences. Be careful in all your travels and God Bless.

I looked forward all during the open seasons of your 4 years in reading your delightful stories. It was special that you have gotten to name the newest Ilama.

Thank you.

Here's to a beautiful two weeks of (hopefully) smooth sailing and stress-free celebration! Y'all have done an excellent job with our beloved LeConte and I know you pass into equally competent and caring hands. Enjoy the Thanksgiving season! And we will see you on the flip side.

Check here anyone for pictures taken on the "snow-in" as we hiked down Rainbow Falls Trail on Sunday Nov 2, 2014. The staff was so wonderful to us all and I want to thank Aaron and Becky Langston for getting our group of 11 down safely. Bibby Moore
