Morning y'all,
It's another beautiful, snowy day up top. The high yesterday reached 22 degrees. The low reached 13 degrees. It's currently 13 degrees and flurrying at 7am observation. The mountain received 2 inches of new snow, bringing our total up to about 5 inches up top. It's still coming down, so if you plan to summit be prepared for some deep drifts. It doesn't sound like 441 will open today, so you'll have a long hike up Rainbow, Bullhead or Trillium. Be cautious and enjoy the beauty!

Wes and Kim tried to come up Rainbow and 441 and they were turned back by locked gates and Rangers at both places. They were told not enough funds to operate snow plows. Have a good day JP.

JP-I saw Ryan La on the Rainbow Falls Trail yesterday, and hiked half way up with him. He was coming to see you with some goodies. Did he make it up there alright? It was so beautiful, it was snowing while we hiked and the forest was a winter wonderland. I never get tired of being out there in all of that! It was great meeting Ryan and we hope to hike together again the next time he comes up. I loved his Louisiana accent!

Agree with jworkman. I enjoy the pics so much best part of my day. Miss East TN and the mountains while temporarily stuck in Memphis hell. Wondering if any pics could be emailed so I might have a little of home in my room. Glad all are there watching out for the mountains and keeping the peaceful energy flowing.

Wow, cool picture today. But have to admit I am soooo ready for some flower pictures. But then again I did put it as my desk top picture.

If only I knew 441 would be open thursday morning, I would drive the 4 hrs to day hike Alum in the snow. It is beyond magical when its covered in white.

FYI- I went up Rainbow yesterday and down Bullhead today. At least 15 blowdowns across Bullhead, some of them not easy to get past in the snow; plan on taking off your pack and crawling through the snow and to get past a handful of them. Rainbow is a much easier way to the top. Not much ice on the trail today; nice dry snow.

Beautiful pic! Can't imagine driving up the Roaring Fork to reach the trailheads in the snowy conditions. I'd have to hike all the way from Gatlinburg. Comments are closed.
