This, we said, was our life, watched over, allowed to go where we wanted. We said we'd come back some time when we got rich. We'd leave the others and find a night like this, whatever we had to give, and no matter how far, to be so happy again. William Stafford

Morning y'all,
It's a beautiful, misty morning up top. The high yesterday reached 45 degrees. The overnight low was 29 degrees. It was 32 degrees and cloudy at 7am observation. The mountain received no new precipitation. The trails are in great shape. Get out and enjoy this characteristically Smoky day!

I had a great weekend enjoying the company of friends and am prepared to head down the mountain early tomorrow morning. I still have to pack up my cabin, finish off a few closing chores and then I'll be ready to get moving. Thanks again to everyone who brought me smoothies, fresh veggies and other treats that made my stay at an incredible place even more special. I've made a lot of memories this season and look forward to the next few chapters. I'll be spring caretaking at Carter Notch Hut for the AMC, then I will be headed to Crag Camp to caretake for the RMC. If you care to keep up with my ramblings, follow me on Instagram @walasiyi_jp. Enjoy the Great Smokies for me!

Thanks for all the updates. I have to admire anyone who can sit on a ledge like that. I am terrified of heights, I crawl to the edge

I had a great hike up on the Alum Cave Trail yesterday. So good seeing you JP before you left. What a good thing to have your friends there. I have managed to get up there every winter JP has been there-6 now. Keep coming back! If anyone needs any encouragement to get out there and do some hiking-that was my 60th hike up to LeConte in 6 years and I am 66 years old. Just shows you can do it at pretty much any age. I love it up there. Happy Trails everyone!
