Oh, what a joy it is to wake up to a soothing sunrise, caught below the dimming stars and above the distant city lights. The soft hues along the horizon are providing just the right amount of gentle inspiration to slip on the boots and step into a full day’s work. And there is no shortage of work to be done. We’ve got a lodge to get ready!
Tuesday was a splendid day to enjoy the outdoors, starting cool but eventually warming up quite nicely. The mountain top high temp came in at 50°, with our low bottoming out at 31°. It’s 40° and a little breezy to start this day, but we’re anticipating another decent round of sunshine. Our streak of stellar skies may finally come to an end this weekend.
A special thank you to Pnut for fulfilling the responsibilities as winter caretaker these past few months. We certainly appreciate his passion for the lodge and outdoors. And a thank you to the NPS trail crews who have been hard at work in recent weeks clearing the various trails around Mt. LeConte in anticipation of the coming season. Spring breakers are already starting to arrive in the Smokies, and making sure they can traverse the mountain safely is important.
