March. 22.2016. First day done and done

3/22/2016

After a chilly 11 we were treated to a nice 26. It was overcast most of the day but the sun managed to pop out long enough for our guests to feel welcomed.

After an awesome first day we are looking forward to the rest of the season and all our guests!

First time snow shoveling for Florida native Alison!
Yesterday morning we went out and shoveled camp out. It is supposed to get up to 60 degrees in the valley so the snow will most likely turn to a mushy mess.

All roads are open as of right now but please use caution, there is ice, snow, and treacherous spots on all trails.

It you find the trails up too risky please call the office and let us know! If any hikers venture up today please keep a lookout for struggling hikers so we can help if needed.

Safe hiking guys!

Looks exactly like it looked when we hiked up opening week 2 years ago! We've been up in all kinds of weather - any time is worth it.

The snow is beautiful but I still prefer a little warmer weather. Can't wait for my overnighter on April 18.

We are supposed to come up tomorrow. Any idea of which trail might be easiest given the current snow and ice?

Following. We are curious too and so ready to hike up tomorrow!

We are also hiking up tomorrow and the NPS welcome center suggested Rainbow or Bullhead given the conditions.

Sounds like a case of Leconte fever to me. And we know what the cure is, don't we.
