The sturdy wood bridge came into focus. Lush evergreens and glowing moss lured me further and further down the trail. Cold and damp, the image in my mind was of a warm humid rainforest. I continued on down the corridor.
Back at the bridge, I knew I was close to home. The feeling of arriving overwhelmed me as it always does. What is it about that feeling of arriving to the LeConte Lodge? A magical feeling that couldn’t be compared with anything outside the wonderful realm of the imagination…
It was real, it felt right.
“Keep close to Nature’s heart…and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.”

Unparalleled, which is why people keep coming back, despite the challenge of the climb. See you in early May!

A major event in my life. Only made it once but haven't won the lottery to get back. The view, the trip, the great place. It is one of those places that wouldn't mean nearly as much if it was easier to get to. The travel makes the trip special.
