Good Morning, It’s another chilly start to the day high above Tennessee. Saturday’s high temp barely topped the freezing mark at 33°. Our low was back at breakfast time dipping down to 12°, despite being only 28° currently. Skies are clear and it looks to be another gorgeous day in the mountains. Patchy snow and ice remains in the higher elevations, so day hikers should plan accordingly with proper traction devices. We’re excitedly making preparations to once again host visitors beginning on May 18. Until that time, all lodge grounds remains closed so that we can ensure a clean, sanitary, and safe environment is being provided to our visitors. Anyone disrespecting these closures during the pandemic puts themselves and others at risk, and has the potential to disrupt any planned reopening timelines here in the Smokies. Thank you for your consideration and understanding while we work to make the lodge safe and enjoyable for our upcoming guests.

I am a 77 year old 900 club member, hiked em all and the full width of The Appalachian Trail. Yes I've stepped across it many times (there is a difference in width and length.) Have been to the lodge many times on many trails and enjoyed spending the nights there. Welcome home!

Such stunning pictures the last couple days! So glad my favorite mountain is once again opening for the season even though a short season now. Best wishes to the entire LeConte staff for a grand new reopening and safe one on May 18th!
