It is an unexpectedly COLD morning up top. Last night right before I went to bed, the thermometer read 32 degrees. Upon waking up this morning, it read 27 degrees! An unexpected cold snap at 6593 feet! Today, we aren't expecting much of a warm up reaching the mid to low 40s at most. If you are planning a summit today, be cautious as there may be some icy spots on the trail.
Yesterday during my afternoon nap, I awoke to some rustling outside my window. Expecting some children running around, I opened my curtains to see a doe and her two babies grazing among the grass. Opening my window, she stared at me as I gazed back at her. Eventually moving on to a different patch of grass, I moved on as well noticing the chill that was coming through my window.
A quick friendly reminder to all that wildlife should not be approached. Bears, squirrels and deer alike are wild animals and should not be fed, or messed with.
