Good morning from the mountain top! Another cloudy day for us so far. Yesterday's high was again 63 and the low was 42. All of the rain we were promised yesterday apparently had other plan because we only received .1" throughout the day. It was, however, just enough rain to give all the plants and trees up here a little boost- many seemed to have sprung up over night! We'll have cone flowers and monk's hood before you know it!

Ruthie or Bryan, we are suppose to be hiking up Sunday, May 17 & hiking down Tuesday, May 19 but we are trying to let you & the crew know we won't be coming because we've had a medical emergency. I know it's too late for a cancellation but wanted to let you all know we won't be there so you won't be watching for us. So sorry we can't make the hike. Keep up the wonderful blog. Enjoy it everyday.

Can anyone tell me if there are azaleas on Mt. Leconte? When is the peak bloom season for them on Leconte and around the GSMNP. Also when is peak bloom season for the rhododendron and is there a time when all are blooming together? And mountain laurel.

Anyone hiking up to the lodge May 17, could you please let the crew know that Kathy Taylor's party of 2 will NOT be coming up today. We have a medical issue preventing us from coming. We found out too late to call the office. THANK YOU! Comments are closed.
