"Hey JP, There is more snow then the winter of 2011-2012. Love- the Leconte crew"

Just a joke for our good friend and winter caretaker, JP. We thought we would rub it in a little. It is currently 20º and has stopped snowing for a bit. We have about 7" currently.

Great crew photo! Enjoy the 7 plus inches of snow! Stay safe & keep warm! It sounds & feels like a snow blizzard in MI today, but without all the snow! Aunt Jeanette

I missed it by a week. This time last Monday I was up top enjoying my 99th summit. Chris D planted the seed for this hike a few months back. I started at Sugarlands Visitors Center around 7am by head lamp, reaching the Rainbow Falls trail via Old Sugarlands trail. I made it from my car to the office in 5h 55m. I had a nice visit with Austin while doing a couple of tunes on the house guitar. After going out to Myrtle Point, I descended via Bullhead/Old Sugarlands back to my car. I saw no one on the descent and reached my car at 7:52 pm. Total time car to car was 12h 45m. I put it at 22.4 miles. Crazy for sure, but when Chris D mentioned the max elevation gain (1,462 - 6,593), I had to do it.

I did 100 last Wednesday. It had to be Alum. I enjoyed the company of Dick and Brian from Sevierville during the last third of the ascent. Big thanks to Nathan for taking time out of his busy schedule to take my picture for the Guest sightings. I stayed up top for 4.5 hours, sitting on the office deck, doing a few tunes on the house guitar, visiting with Lindi, chillin' at Cliff Tops, and enjoying the view at Myrtle Point. I got back to my car a little before sunset. On the descent, I had a fellow ask me why I would want to go to the same place 100 times. "Because I love it" was my reply.

LOVE the picture for JP!! Great idea you guys. That's all he talked about last season was getting more snow. My daughter Syd. & I are wishing we were there. Hey Allyson, just curious, how many guests actually showed up

I'm curious as well, there must be a lot of cancellations. I have to admit, I don't think I would have hiked up in that. We are coming up in late May so I do not anticipate snow being a problem! :)

I'm sure JP will get his snow this year. No way he could get skunked two winters in a row, could he?
