More Flowers

Photograph of a pink turtlehead flower.
Despite the reports of heavy rainfall for yesterday, Chris and I managed to have a dry hike back to work. I say dry, that is only if you don't count the fact that we were soaked with sweat. I went through two liters of water in no time.  It was extremely humid for the jaunt up the hill.  The high on the mountain was 66º with a low of 58º. We did not get to see the meteor shower last night due to heavy cloud coverage. We will keep our fingers crossed for tonight.

After searching through the thick vegetation, I managed to find some of the pink turtlehead flowers. There are not as many around camp as there have been in the past. I did notice the grass of parnassus and the purple gentian is starting to bloom on the upper section of Alum Cave trail. They are making their debut early this season.

Great closeup of the flower. Clouds here, too, prevented any viewing of the Perseids.

Flower pics beautiful. Great sunny day with slight breeze here in central Indiana. Working in flower garden after lunch. No Perseids viewing as I live in city and too many lights. Sister was doing a viewing put on out in country by an environmental group on their land. Anxious to talk to her and see how it went. Visiting Wolf Park this week which has an open house showing off their 100 day old 3 gray fox kits. Lots of nature things around here to do but must admit ascending LeConte is my favorite!....September 15 can't come soon enough!! So enjoy living through this blog and all the comments from up top and around the world when I can't be there.

Rebooted an old computer today and the highonleconte.com page was on 08/15/12. If you have time, check the photo for that day.

I didn't know there was a meteror shower last night until I read FB. A friend said she seen it here in Michigan. We did have a big front come in last night about 8 pm and the clouds were amazing. But not a stitch of rain. Love the flower!
