Mt. LeConte Family

8/20/2014

Picture
The snake root is taking over the hillside. That means summer is coming to an end. This delicate flower takes over the flower beds as the cone flowers start to die off. I forgot how hard it is to get a close up of a flower when the wind is blowing. It has been cloudy and windy this morning, the good news is as I am typing the sun is trying to burn off some of the cloud coverage. The high yesterday was 64º with a low of 53º. It turned out to be a gorgeous day. Hopefully we will have a repeat today.

The crew is excited, we have passed the 100 days left in the season mark. We have 98 days left. The best thing is that all of the crew is still here and they are playing well with each other. We may live on a mountain top, but it is still pretty tight quarters. That is why you hear me refer to the crew as family. There is not a whole lot we don't learn about each other. With that being said, we have made friends, through out the years, that will be in our lives forever. All because of Mt. LeConte.

With less than 100 days remaining my thoughts turn to the beauty of Mt LeConte and the winter scenes. Will JP be returning to share these with us again?

Lovely picture as always. I have spent some time in close quarters with other people and it can be rough. Just a few days with someone like that is almost like knowing them for years.

Allyson are you going to be at the lodge on 8/28/14? Hope to meet you. We will be up there for the night. Never been to TN but cannot wait.

Scott, I am sorry to say that we will not be here. We actually hike down the night before. You will be in great hands and Nathan and Ruthie will be here to take care of everything. I know you are going to love your first trip up.

We appreciate that you share a little bit about your mountain family with us each day. Of course, I think that most of us who read here every day think of ourselves as extended members of the LeConte family. I can only imagine now that you're past the midway season how many emotions are going through your head with the passage of each day.

I will be up with my friend on Monday for my first time and first overnight on Monday! So so excited! I can't believe it!
