Yesterday was a great day to get out of camp and take a hike. Chris and I decided to check out Brushy mountain. I am glad I did. It was the perfect place for a picnic. The day started out cool and cloudy. As we hiked down in elevation, the sun came out and the clouds dispersed. We ran into our fellow LeConte crew member, Walt. He was hiking up the Brushy mountain trail. I was amazed at how many day hikers we saw on Brushy. I guess they had the same idea we did. The top of the Mt. LeConte warmed up to a comfortable 59 degrees. The low was 44. Today is moving in the direction of thunderstorms. You can hear the thunder rumbling as I type. I am glad I saved the big chore of resurfacing our kitchen floor for today. I don't think it would have been a good hiking day.

Yesterday was awesome. I was up at Water Rock Knob and was gazing over at Mt. LeConte. The weather was awesome where I was so I figured it was pretty spectacular up there to!!!!

Your last picture, the tunnel between Trillium Gap and Brushy Mountain will absolutely explode in color sometime in Apr/May. My son and I hiked there a few years ago and it looked like we just missed a million dollar wedding reception. I'd like to catch that at peak this year.

Made my 132 hike up to leconte yesterday it was fantastic. the weather was perfect, going to try and get 18 more trips up this year. Not to pick on your hubby, with shorts and long sleve shirt on. Up on top of Mt.Leconte is so much like Michigan weather. Shorts and long sleves I'm wearing right now too. Can always peel off the layers. Its been so nice out the last few days, can hardly believe its March. Pictures look beautiful!! Comments are closed.
