Nathan and the crew are monitoring an incident on one of the trails that might require their assistance. It is not due to solar flare activity. Hopefully Nathan or Ruthie will be able to post tomorrow.

Hopefully!! My goodness, it's falling apart!

Not falling apart, they have their priorities in order. Much as I enjoy the daily posts, I would prefer they help someone in trouble. Who knows next time it could be me in trouble. Thanks for all you all do to help hikers and keep things running on top. I know you could always say your job is running things on top and leave hikers to their own devices but you do not do that and for that I am thankful.

Norman, you need to calm down, take your meds and get a life. There's more out there than this blog.

Norman, I think you embody the spirit and passion of this blog. You may get a little worked up at times, but that's fine by me. Have a great weekend!

Another rescue? I hope nobody was badly injured. Stay safe, everyone -- and watch out for those pesky tree roots. I think they're getting more aggressive!

Pine cones are their allies. I bit the dust on Sugarland Mountain trail in May when I slipped on one that had camouflaged itself under some leaves. No rescue needed thankfully, hiking poles saved me.
Kent, I love your comments about the aggressive tree roots! My problem especially in the fall is the aggressive acorns. It's like trying to hike on ball bearings. Related to that, oak leaves have an especially slippery texture. Watch out, folks! All this stuff about humans doing damage to nature is nonsense. Nature is trying to kill us! :)

Heh! It's a broader conspiracy than I realized. Leaves, acorns, roots...it's a treacherous place out there. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. If I wanted to play it safe, I'd just go mall walking.

Sorry guys. I'm one of those incidents that kept you from getting your daily posting. My daughter Pamela, friend Carol and I hiked up on Thursday. The trip up top and staying at the lodge was Carol's and my celebration for our 70th birthdays. Our stay up top was very enjoyable. Nathan, Ruthie, Pat and all the staff were as nice and friendly as could be.
