Not Much Food Left

11/9/2011

With only 14 days left in the season, our provisions are dwindling. I thought I would show you a preseason shot of food storage and a photo taken today.

Chris and I will be hiking down the mountain this evening. We have five more days off to take before the end of season. Meredith will keep you up to date on the happenings on LeConte. I will return next Wednesday and introduce you to the new winter caretaker.

I don't want to tell you a lot about him or his duties. I need to leave something for him to talk about. He will have 3 1/2 months up here and will need some topics to discuss.

I would also like to tell Betty Pierce at the Edgewater th

Ha! We are hiking up to stay on the 20th, let us know if we need to bring more food! Looking forward to finally being up there and seeing everything for myself. Have enjoyed the pics. Keeping fingers crossed for snow since we are from Florida and the only white stuff we get to play in is beach sand. See you guys soon!

Sure going to miss you all during the winter. My fiance and I were in Gatlinburg Memorial day weekend to see Loretta Lynn. We stayed 4 days and upon getting home, a couple days later my mom was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. She passed away October 21. Your daily blogs have always been a nice quick daily retreat for me from the helplessness and sadness this disease brought to us. I know she is in a better place now and so happy. Maybe now she will make the hike up to the Lodge with me when I get to go for the first time. Thanks so much Allyson

Wow, that storeroom is really getting down to the nitty-gritty. Looks like over the years, you folks really know how to call it.

It DOES look like you call it pretty close. I am guessing the winter caretaker eats from that cache over the winter. Did you run out of peaches or Tang or anything?

Is all that carried up there by the llamas?

You said you were hiking down in the evening. Do you actually hike in the dark?...wearing a headlight maybe? Just courious.

Enjoy your days!
