Rabbit, rabbit, y'all! This morning is quite different from last November 1. Today, instead of digging ourselves out of 23" of snow, it is practically warm at 48 degrees! Yesterday's high was only 47 and the low overnight was 38. We received .15" of rain early this morning. Happy November everybody!

Rabbit! Rabbit! Rabbit! to you all too! Great to hear that old saying again from Mt. LeConte. That was one of Herrick Brown's traditions during the time that I worked at the Lodge back in the early '70's. Brings back the memories for sure.

I enjoyed my hike to Mt. LeConte and the tiny little couch in the "Lodge" with the stove to get warm. Our small party hiked up and down the same day. We were late getting into New Found Gap so my wife called the Rangers to "rescue" us. We arrived about an hour later while she got a show when the Ranger changed into hiking toggs in the parking lot in clear view of anyone who wanted to watch. But before he could get onto the trail we emerged cold but well.

Hiking up there on Dec 11 to celebrate 32 years with my best friend and wife (the same girl). Can't wait to hit the trail!

I was lucky enough to have been there for the huge snow on Halloween last year. An unforgettable experience. The crew did a great job under some tough conditions.

Another good photo of one of my favorite weather conditions on the mountain ! And I see my favorite cabin at the end of that row, immersed in misty fog where the sunlight disappears down the hills, mountains vanish, and I vanish into the calming, soothing, and mysterious moisture when it surrounds the Lodge and hidden by diaphanous clouds of mist and fog floating gracefully over the cabins I slip into a sense of deep satisfaction and peacefulness ! Ask me again what is best in life !
