Halloween snowman...not unusual for Mt. LeConte.
Good Morning,
It seems just like yesterday we were slinging loads beneath a helicopter getting ready for the 2017 season.  Yet here we are...the beginning of November and marching down the home stretch toward Closing Day and Thanksgiving.  Time just seems to tick faster and faster with each passing year.  So let's make the most of it!  If you're waiting for that opportunity to pay us a visit high above Tennessee, hopefully you can find time in these three remaining weeks to make the climb.

And the other half.
We saw more of the snow melt yesterday, as our high temperature for the day reached an otherwise toasty 46 degrees.  Overnight lows once again hovered just above the freezing mark.  What snow remains is patchy, but continue to use caution in icy places packed down by numerous footsteps until all is gone.  Today should be very similar as far as temps and skies go, so enjoy it if you're looking to explore the outdoors.
PictureAnd the 2017 Winner...Miss Heather Barker and her fabulous depiction of a llama, titled "Tribute to Cliff."

We had some great entries for the annual pumpkin carving contest.  Guests enjoyed perusing the creative designs during dinner, casting their ballots for the one they deemed fit to be crowned the 2017 champion.  In the end, Heather's tasteful and artistic pumpkin creation garnered the most votes.  Congrats to Heather, and "good show" by those crew members who submitted pumpkins in this year's contest.  A special thanks to Bonnie for picking out such fabulously carve-able pumpkins, and to the llamas for lugging them up the hill for our enjoyment along with the necessary supplies.
Have a great start to the new month!

Love the carved pumpkins. They are all nice but I would have had to vote for the pumpkin paying tribute to Clifford as well. But, I do LOVE the pumpkin carved like the dining room sitting in the dining room with the kerosene lamps and windows in the background. Cute snowman and this Texan who rarely sees snow enjoyed playing in it this week! See y'all next October!

I was fortunate to have stayed at the Lodge several years ago during the pumpkin decorating contest and enjoyed seeing that. This year's winner was excellent. G'day

I long to be on this mountain again. I enjoy reading the posts. I may have to be a crew member one day.
