Hello down there!  It is cold!  The low dropped to 8 degrees last night, and the high for yesterday only reached 34 for a short period of time.  It is currently 18 degrees and sunny.  #burrr  You only have tomorrow and Wednesday to hike up and see our smiling faces so come on.  What are you waiting for?  #endOfSeason

Elktonbrant, the suspense is killing you! And, I have to admit, me too! Like Barbara's post the other day, I'm beginning to think lodge lurker and JP are one and the same! Jean, I've said this before, Kate was off the mountain when I made my hike up last month and I didn't get to meet her, but wanted to. Her snail blog reminded me of something my oldest daughter would do. But, I will be back up next October, so hopefully I'll get to meet her then. HAGD.

Only The SHADOW knows!!! Elktonbrant & Sandy (Tx) I could tell you, but I would have to enter the park service witness protection program because the Lurker would put a contract out on me.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.

Thank you again for brightening my day with the beautiful photos & updates. My husband & I hiked up and stayed two nights in mid-September in glorious weather. It was a hike we had been waiting 26 years to complete; we heard about the lodge when we first hiked to Alum Cave with our eldest child in a backpack. Many hikes & 3 kids out of the nest later, we finally had our chance! I have appreciated all the info on this blog & comments from other hikers, crew. We had a wonderful stay & enjoyed meeting guests who shared recommendations on other parks, restaurants in TN, etc. There is a unique camarderie among those who love Mt. LeConte. We are looking forward to returning next September. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Come on out, JP, from where ever you are hiding. We know that you arrive in time for the lodge Thanksgiving and I too suspect that you have already begun to speak to us. Welcome home again!

Enjoy your time off. What am I waiting for? Too cold up there now. But I've been up there twice this year. I'm waiting for next year when temps are warmer. I will see you all then . Happy Thanksgiving LeConte Crew!! And fellow bloggers.

JP always makes it back for Leconte Thanksgiving. I believe that he has already started speaking to us. El Nino says we will have a warmer than usual winter but I'm sure you'll manage to have fun; I know we will. Welcome back.

Elaine, because of the strong El Nino, we are supposed to have a colder wetter winter! Could that finally mean snow for us? I hope so...it's been a long time. Snow and blizzard conditions already forecasted for northwest Texas this weekend. Here it comes! Happy Thanksgiving to all who read this!

Foolish me, Tammy. Still dont quite get the nino, nina effect as this was something they didnt teach when I was in school. I thought they had predicted a less snowy winter for us (near the smokies). Hope I'm wrong!
