Good Morning,
Well the weather for this final week of October is about to do a 180° turn on us. We’re going to go from warm and sunny to cold and yucky for what could be the majority of the week. Winds will be swirling on the regular, skies will be cloudy, rain showers will be lashing on occasion, and dare we say it…there are several days in the forecast now stating the possibility for our first snow chances of the autumn season. And the white fluffy stuff could fly as early as tomorrow depending on how the precip activity and temperature drops sync up. Conditions will start sunny and warm today, but once this first wave of storms enters the region around lunchtime, we can count on spending most of our time in the 30s and 40s this coming week. It is absolutely imperative that each visitor to the lodge evaluate their hiking gear before making the climb. If you don’t have the appropriate layers to keep you dry and warm, or the footwear to provide adequate traction on wet or icy surfaces, then you’re setting yourself up for a less than pleasant time on the trail. The closer we get to the end of the lodge season, the more apparent it becomes why we are closed during the winter months, and it all starts with safety. So please be smart if you plan on venturing out in the sloppy conditions that come to fruition these final weeks of the season. Have a great day.
