Good morning,
After barely achieving 2.5” of rainfall in September, it has been a welcomed sight to receive some adequate liquid precipitation these past few days. The hike up Alum Cave was in and out of mists and downpours, but my face wore a smile the entire way, gleefully listening to the drops dance atop my umbrella. We were overdue, and the Earth here is happy. Yesterday’s readings weren’t much different than the day prior. Our high topped out at a seasonably appropriate 53° accompanied by a low of 46°. We tallied another 0.5” of rainfall. Slow and steady. Today expects to be very similar, with the greatest chance of showers in the afternoon. By mid-week things should clear up for more optimal hiking conditions that cater to those sought after views and sunsets. With the resurgence of rain, remember to tread carefully on any slick surfaces, namely log water bars and large smooth rock faces. Fall finally feels like it’s here. We’re excited and hope you are too! Have a great afternoon.

Nicely worded post this morning; I simply must get back up there ! I haven't trekked up the Alum trail since it was renovated, instead taking Trillium every trip; I don't have enough remaining years to do all the trails, again, or as often as I wish, but the Smokies, well, what can I add to their beauty ?! G'day.
