Oh happy day!

5/21/2011

What a beautiful day!  Another wonderful day to wake up on top of the mountain! I think it's going to be a great day to spend in the woods.  We had an amazing day yesterday.  It was not as sunny as we had hoped but still much warmer at 57.  Yet the overnight low was only 45.  We'll take that.  We are hoping to beat that high today with some more sunshine!  I feel some hula hooping in store for today!

Happy Birthday to Bonnie! She celebrated her birthday atop the mountain and John decided to do something very special for her!  Of his own creation came the wonderful chocolatey, peanut buttery goodness.  What a sweet guy, and he churned it all by hand!

It ended up being a special treat for us all!  Thanks John!

Enjoyed our hike up to the lodge this morning. It was a beautiful day.

But....no one offered a sweet treat? What's up with that?

Just got back home from our trip to LeConte. Hiked up Alum Cave last Tuesday (5/17). Spent Tuesday & Wednesday night up there. WOW! Met wonderful people, had great food, good times after dinner in the office (talking & singing). Hiked down the Rainbow Thursday. Can't believe we saw snow in May! Thanks to the crew for all their hard work & for letting Al ring the dinner bell.

The man knows his sweets. Sure knows a lot about the park too. Gave some great trail advice last time I was up. Great crew on LeConte this year, keep it up.
