What business have I in the woods, if I am thinking of something out of the woods? Thoreau
Morning y'all,

It's another beautiful, clear day up top. The high yesterday reached 50 degrees (!!!). The overnight low was 34 degrees. It was 42 degrees and clear as could be at 7am observation. The mountain received no new precipitation and there is still about a 1/2 inch of snow remaining up top. There are still quite a few tricky sections on Alum, so be sure to bring some sort of traction device if you intend to summit safely. Enjoy the day folks!

Another sagacious quote from Thoreau, today, that speaks to the necessity of living in the moment. If you're not wholly present when you step into the great outdoors, you will miss everything it has to teach you.

My family and I are coming to that area from Hattiesburg, MS around the first of the year. Hopefully we will get to see some beautiful sites AND some snow!

I shared the link to your blog on my Facebook page today because I have been enjoying for some time now all the quotes from Thoreau, Emerson, Mary Oliver, Hunter Thompson - and the gorgeous photographs, too! Being winter caretaker at a place like Mt. LeConte is a great place for poetry and philosophy to flourish. See you in the Spring!

Hey Brett,

If you could find some Bolthouse or Naked smoothies, I'd really appreciate it! Thank you so much for the offer!

Best wishes,
JP
