We made it back up the mountain. We are officially open for now. The way it stands, the states of Tennessee, North Carolina, and Sevier and Blount counties have agreed to pay for the park to be open through Sunday. If you have any questions in regard to reservations after Sunday, please call our reservation office at 865-429-5704.
It was great hiking back up today. The leaves are at their peak in the higher elevations. It is gorgeous. There were a few day hikers making their way up the mountain. Everyone seemed to be super excited to be out and on the trails. We are back to posting our daily posts, I just ask one thing. Please keep all political comments to other forums. We would like to keep the comments to LeConte related information. I will delete any comments that do not fit that guide line. I think we all agree, this site is best when we are all getting a long and sharing our thoughts and favorite stories about our favorite mountain. Thanks and Happy Hiking.

Hello Allyson, I was in Gatlinburg up until last night. I told my oldest that you posted pic on facebook from Alum I think on Monday. Told him I would have begged to help you with whatever yo needed from the top just to get to hike LOL. We were like 2 children that had to stand there and look at the candy store but couldn't have any. Hopefuly everything stays open and I will see you towards the end of November. HAPPY TRAILS

My sons and I will be hiking up Sunday for our 8th annual October trip to the lodge. We were really sweating it this year - afraid the lodge would still be closed! Allyson, we're so glad you guys are back on the mountain - looking forward to seeing you all again!

How I've missed the pictures and blog for two weeks. Checked in often to see what the status was and was so glad to see the updates a couple of times. This part of the world - our East TN mountains must have been where Eden was!!! I realize that comment is not original with me but today's picture is the best and made me think of that comment's needing to be said again.. So glad you are able to be up there, crew. I've seen the smoky outline of the mountains from my screened in back porch every day this last two weeks and mourned the fact that you were not there. So thrilled to be able to see the mountains when it is clear enough and realize you are back. Hope it's not temporary.

Yes, glad to see the lodge open again; I was thinking that at a capacity of around 45 guests a night, at the current nightly rate, the lodge operators lost somewhere around $100K ! Not a lot of days remaining in the current season either, but I'm very glad the place is operating again.

Glad you are up and running we have missed you, I'm still hoping to see you on the 29th. I have one question, Does all the folks that was not able to stay the night the past couple of weeks get to pick there night to use there credit on next year? Thats if they didn't choose to get a refund!

So happy our park is open again. Drove to Oconolufte VC on Saturday to take a photo of the "closed" sign at the park entrance; I hoped that we would never see this sign again. Here's hoping that things get settled and we can share this special place with all the leaf lookers who have traveled to experience the magnificent autumn in the Smokies. Welcome back, everyone.

My grandma use to say "every dark cloud has a silver lining"! Good things can come from a bad situation. Lesson learned---never, ever, take for granted what God has created! I have so missed your blog for the last 2 weeks! I know I'll never be able to hike to LeConte Lodge, so this blog is my only way of knowing what's going on up there! Glad you're back, and hope this doesn't end on Sunday!!!

Welcome back! I was so happy to see that the park would reopen and that the lodge is back up and running. We got a reservation for next May and can't wait to hike up and spend the night. We did a day hike up last April and knew that we wanted to come back to stay in this magical place.

So glad the park is open. Was supposed to hike on 10./2/13, Missed our hike by one day. Came back to the mountains yesterday and the park opened today. So thankful that it has opened back up for all of these people who depend on it for their livelyhood. Hoping to hike up tomorrow or Friday to pick up a shirt for this year and hoping to get another October date for next year. This area is beyond beautiful. Love these mountains!!

Hey! Missed all of you. I agree with everyone in that it's good to see things get back to normal. Not much time remaining in the season for the lodge, but this is the time of year when I ramp up my frequency of day hikes. Having my knee surgery in January which will curtail that for three or four weeks, but afterwards I'll mkae up for it. I have thirty or more hikes planned on some trails I've been away from for a while, and of course there's always two or three that include the lodge. I've missed this site, too. Great to see it's returned. G'day Comments are closed.
