Attention Hikers, don't forget to bring your checkbook or credit card when visiting and stop by the office to pick up a t-shirt or souvenir.

Just returned from my annual trip to LeConte. My 6th year in a row.
Every trip is different, but always worth it. Temp.was perfect.Hi 65, Lo 50.
As usual the staff was very accmodating.
Nathan was very informative at check in.
Enjoyed Doug's cooking again. Always hearty and all you can eat.

Henry, assistant site mngr., last name is same as mine, Neel, but determined that we we not close enough related for me to get a discount. Worth a try.
Great trip, Great staff.
Be back next year and the year after.
Allen

Pack light going up cause the shopping on top is super. One of each color and I love the 3lb coffee mug. Had to have one of those and the hoodies are a must for the cool evenings. Didn't pack the stuff very well coming down and felt I had a huge basketball on my back. Well worth the trip up for all the goodies. I think one year I offered the staff 20 to bring my pack down, one of them considered it....ha ha

Our first trip up to LeConte is only 3 weeks away.We have decided to hike up the day before our stay and camp in the shelter on LeConte. My husband is so excited about it and I am a little nervous about the shelter but so excited too! Can't wait to get our t shirts. See you all soon.

What a GREAT idea for maximizing time at the top! Your cost on the margin is a sleeping pad, sleeping bag and breakfast. For that you gain a lot of time at LeConte Lodge. We hike as a large group, so part of the experience is dinner and breakfast in Gatlinburg, but absent that, the night before at the shelter is a great idea. Nervous? About bears? I just spent four nights on the AT with two friends and there were bears around, but absent food in the shelter, they behaved more curious than menacing. Make sure you have NO smellables with you, consider hanging your whole backpack on the cables. Bears or no bears it will be a great experience!

Heading up next Saturday morning. Only a day hike but I try to get up at least 3 times a year.
Always a highlight of my year.
