Protective Mother

I have not been able to get a shot of this beautiful doe. What you can not see is the tiniest fawn I have ever seen. He is right below her. She took a stroll through camp yesterday so I went out in the rain to see if I could get a good photo. The little fawn hopped away before I could get one. It is my mission to capture his playfulness before I go on days off.

If this rain keeps up, Chris and I will be able to jump in a kayak and paddle down Rainbow into town. We received another .9" of rain yesterday. It is socked in and sprinkling this morning. I better look in the old library and see what books I have not read yet. It is going to be a great day get lost in a good story.

For some crazy reason we hiked up to the Lodge today via Bullhead. The trail in many places was like walking in a flowing creek bed. Your hot coffee in the dining hall lifted our spirits. We returned down rainbow falls, and I agree with the main post, a kayak would have worked in places. Time to dry out the boots!

This is our weekend for Leconte? Any sun forecast or rain all weekend?

Just over a week until we come up! I cannot wait!

Add me to the list of rain request recipients. I need rain in central PA. My off-grid potable rainwater catchment system sure could use a recharge.

We are blessed in North Georgia, we got some good rain. Funny thing is were I work, we have the National Forest close by, and there are several acres of woods behind our office. Every once in a while the deer come strolling through our back yard, and the other day a doe came through with a fawn that could've not been more than a few days old... It is a blessing to see things like this...

Indiana is in great need of rain.
What is all this rain doing to the storm damage near and in Cades Cove? We were there on Monday (before all the rain on Tuesday) and the sides of the road looked as if there could be mud slide or falling rock if the rain came too fast. You would have see to understand what I am talking about. So many trees are gone now. :(

Huge need for rain in Ludington, Michigan. My grass is a golden crispy brown. Hopefully all of your rain will be done when I come down.
I love to watch those baby deer. We have a mother and baby out in the field and was watching the baby checking out some turkeys come in. She'd slowly go up to one and they would just move a little and that fawn would run around its mother. Then it'd go back for some more. Shouldv'e got a utube video of it, but I don't think my camera could zoom in too watch. There pretty comical to watch though. That turkey was getting very upset with the poor little thing, but it kept coming back for more.
Send some rain my way, but wait til Sunday, I'm going on a poker run tommorow. I hope I can keep up with my husband. Or should say, I hope he waits for me. I like to ride slow and look at the flowers.

I am glad that Mt.LeConte is likely a very safe place for this little mother and her bambi. What a dear, serene expression -
