There are still a few random bits of color holding on. Some of the crew did a day run yesterday and said Gatlinburg was in peak leaf season. Warmer weather has moved back in. 44º was the low last night with a high of 49º. I guess 44º seems warm when we were in the teens last week. The crew is super excited about Halloween. The pumpkins will be up today and the crew has their carving ideas ready to go. At least this year, we will not be looking at 36" of snow.

Enjoyed a great dayhike to Leconte yesterday...up Boulevard and down Alum. Perfect day for a great hike with great friends!! Got to meet Bethany in the office as I was buying my shirt and sweatshirt. Passed several of the crew on their way back up Alum. Can't wait til May 1...after 25 years of dayhiking Leconte we are finally going to stay in the lodge!!

Tanya, the Boulevard-Alum Cave hike is probably my favorite path to LeConte, especially in clear weather.

Will there be pictures of the pumpkins on the blog? Hope so--what fun. Looks like perfect Halloween weather this year-great fall colors and not too chilly. Enjoy, everyone.

Since everyone is talking about the boulevard/alum route, I believe that may be what I do in November. Haven't been on boulevard since June of 2012. Will have to see what the weather has in store for us though that late into November. HAPPY TRAILS

Brian, we did this in August and headed out a day early for a night at Ice Water. Depends on your sleeping gear though.
