Rainbows Over the Mountain

I felt that quote was only too fitting being from Sevier County's very own celebrity. The rain moved out and left us with a brilliant rainbow. The guests vacated their seats in the dining room and ran outside to witness the beauty. You have to look hard, but you can see the faint color of the second rainbow to the left. It was one of the most vivid rainbows I have seen in my time on the mountain. Simply stunning.

We are looking at more rain for today. The weather forecast is calling for thunderstorms. I am sure they will move in around the time Chris and I hike down tonight. We are heading into Gatlinburg for a few days. I am excited to work the first Gatlinburg Farmers Market of the 2014 season. The farmers market is one of my projects when I am not on the mountain. It is a fun event for the locals and tourists. So with that being said, you will be treated to more of Nathan's descriptive posts. See you in a few days and Happy Hiking.

Delightful photo and nice quote by Dolly Parton. I might paraphrase her quote and say that if you want to hike in the Smokies, you gotta put up with the rain, AND, carry a rainsuit even during pretty conditions !

What a beautiful photo! And I do see the 2nd rainbow. You're right, the colors in that are very vivid, awesome! Surely... with a rainbow like that, there HAS to be some gold there somewhere!!! :) Thanks so much for sharing that. And enjoy the market, I hear it's pretty cool!

The Dolly quote is appropriate as her new album, "Blue Smoke", is out today. From the first cut I heard (on the Today show), it's another Dolly classic. She is truly one of the great gems of the U.S., and your rainbow picture and quote provided a welcome smile for my day.
