Morning y'all,
It's a pretty dreary morning up top. The high yesterday reached 44 degrees. The low was a warm 38 degrees. It was 44 degrees and clear at 7am observation. The mountain received .04 inches of new precipitation. There is no longer any snow left on the ground up top. The mountain has had a ton of melt, so I'd expect the trails to be wet. There will still be some ice on the worst 'glaciers', but the trails should be in great shape for the most part. Enjoy the day!

It sounds like trains or jet planes up there. The wind is fierce in Cosby, 30 mph gusts common. Cannot imagine what it must be like at LeConte. We do have sun here, no rain overnight, but the sound of the wind is eery, awe inspiring, visions of blowdowns dancing in my head, on this, the first day of winter. 73 degrees now at 10:30 am. Winter indeed.

Same in the Glades in Gatlinburg, scary wind gusts @ 2300 elevation! This morning I had 68 degrees at 8am, Mom in Pigeon Forge was 48 & JP had 44. Middle warmth, wonder if there is a name for that? :)

Thunderstorms here in s.e Tn. 68 degrees for first day of winter. Suppose to chill down to 40's Monday. Hope Ober Gatlinburg ski slope snow survives this heat wave although this 68 degree ambient right now feels great Comments are closed.
