Really, Bath Salts?

2/8/2011

High 32, Low 7.
6" new snow.
Still Snowing.

Seems I never pressed 'publish' on the post I wrote yesterday.. oh well. Got a lot more snow than I was expecting, the forecast predicted less than an inch over night. It was really windy as well, there were something like Snow Tornadoes coming through camp yesterday afternoon, I tried to video it, But all these videos I take don't come out very impressive. I think Trillium was broken, but now it's covered in Snow again.

My Husband and I hiked up Allum last Oct. It was tough for a first timer. Which trails are the easest?

Alex, great pictures, as always!

Pam, I think Trillium is easiest of all the trails to LeConte, but Alum is my favorite and the one I do most of the time. Sometimes I go up Rainbow and down Bullhead. Boulevard is my least favorite. But hey—with a rocking chair and a cup of hot chocolate waiting for you at the top, all trails to LeConte are great!!

I love the Trillium Gap trail. This is the one the llamas use to take supplies to Mt. LeConte. You just have to step over a lot of llama poop. Not as steep as Alum which is hard on old knees.

wow, snow tornadoes? Sounds exciting and scary at the same time!! That second picture looks like it's taken over a lake. I've been grabbing your pictures and putting them on my desktop to enjoy during the day, hope that's ok.

Stayed up there Saturday night..Some dudes rolled in at about 8pm. Long day of breaking Trillium. Sounds like the mountain didn't care about their hard work.

Once again west TN got hit with the white stuff and more than was predicted. NOAA quickly upped the winter storm advisory to a warning and I got a total of 6 inches at my house in Carroll co. I am sooooo ready for spring and the hot days of summer.

I forgot to include that we had some "snow thunder" which is crazy to experience...snows like mad. I have also seen the "snow lightning"(early 80s) and then the thunder when I lived in Knoxville..it was a blizzard with that storm. Oh, and I got my xcountry skies out since they have been horribly neglected, but even with the 6 inches of snow it wasn't much fun..the snow was wet and heavy.

Once again beautiful pictures.
Dana---in our central Illinois blizzard last week we got 14 inches of snow at my house. We had thunder snow with lightening! Couldn't believe it at first but you could definately see the lightening and heard the thunder booms! Crazy stuff. This morning -7 degrees!

Yea, several weeks ago in SE Pennsylvania, when we had a bad storm roll through during the night, we had thundersnow and lightning. The part that made it really fun was, I was on my way home from work, and it was pretty much whiteout conditions, that it made it impossible to see where I was going with the headlights lighting the snowfall, so I was driving with just my park lights on. (which BTW worked great) But then a big ol' flash of lightning let loose, and that's quite something after my eyes had adjusted to the dim park lights!
